10:08 AM — An image purporting to show Taylor Lautner coming out on the cover of a January edition of People magazine has been dismissed as a fake by the magazine. Celebrities sent congratulations to the 19-year-old star of the Twilight series before it was revealed to be a joke.

Fans say football clubs and agents to blame for lack of gay players 30
3:49 PM — A survey of 3,500 football fans says they blame football agents and clubs for the lack of openly gay players. According to the University of Staffordshire research, more than 90 per cent of those questioned said they would support a gay player and felt that homophobia has no place in the sport.

US study says gay men are less likely to be offered job interviews 34
2:14 PM — An American study says that openly gay men are less likely to be called back for job interviews - particularly in the South and Midwest. The research found that CVs which indicate an applicant is gay are 40 per cent less likely to be granted an interview than those which do not.

2:33 PM — A poll suggests that most US young people are not offended by online anti-gay, racist or sexist slurs. According to an Associated Press-MTV survey, most young people think it's just 'joking around' when their friends use words like 'fag' or 'slut'.

North Carolina House approves referendum on gay marriage ban 10
10:33 AM — North Carolina's House of Representatives have approved a measure for a voter referendum on a gay marriage ban. Although the US state does not currently recognise gay marriage, Republicans are seeking a constitutional ban on the practice, which would prevent courts from ruling for marriage equality.

5:08 PM — Three gay men have been been attacked in the US state of Utah in the last two weeks. Early on Thursday morning, 32-year-old Cameron Nelson was attacked in American Fork as he took out rubbish at a hair salon.
London charity for older LGBT people seeks volunteers 33
2:09 PM — Opening Doors London, the charity for older LGBT people, is seeking donations and volunteers. The service, run by Age UK, offers information, help, 'befrienders' and social activities for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people over the age of 50.

10:15 AM — Another Scottish Catholic leader has attacked proposals to bring marriage equality to the country. Mario Conti, the Archbishop of Glasgow, said that allowing gay marriage would be "foolish" and render marriage "meaningless".

Poll: North Carolina residents oppose gay marriage ban 8
5:08 PM — A small poll of voters in the US state of North Carolina says that most would vote against a proposed ban on gay marriage. Republican lawmakers announced last week that they will push for a voter referendum on the issue in 2012.
