12:00 AM — Cardinal Keith Michael Patrick O’Brien is to make a sermon today where he is expected to announce a partial u-turn in the Catholic Church's opposition of civil marriage equality for gay couples. Although the Church will continue to oppose same sex marriages happening within religious institutions, it appears to accept that same sex civil marriages will be a reality regardless of its opposition.

Homosexuality did not cause Catholic Church child abuse scandal, report says 70
1:52 PM — A study commissioned by the US Catholic Church confirms that child abuse by priests was not caused by homosexuality or celibacy. The $2 million report, by the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, instead says that the sexual revolution post-1960 was to blame, along with poor training and a lack of emotional support.
