Andrew O'Neill, a comedian, and Stephanie Munro, an administration manager, say that marriage is patriarchal and they do not want to be part of an institution which bars gays and lesbians.

Lesbian couple have marriage bid rejected 20
11:05 AM — A lesbian couple were turned away from a registry office yesterday when they tried to apply to marry. Colette French and Katie Green, both 21, were turned away from Petersfield Register Office in Hampshire and refused a letter of rejection, which is usually given to couples denied a marriage.

9:25 AM — The secretary of the Campaign for Homosexual Equality, Griffith Vaughan Williams, has died at the age of 70. Mr Williams, known as Griff, became involved in gay rights work in 1964 and was a leading member of CHE from its earliest days.
