    5:44 PM — A record 504 people joined gay charity Stonewall's annual Equality Walk on Sunday. Walkers raised £50,000 for the charity's work and followed a route along the sea front and through Brighton's gay village.

    5:51 PM — A gay couple from Brighton hope they will become the first civil partners to be elected as councillors at the same time. Peter Booth, a businessman, and Kelvin Poplett, a travel agent, are standing as Tory candidates for East Brighton ward alongside Chris Sandland, who was a founder member of Stonewall.

David Harvey, who ran the event between 2003 and 2006, said Brighton Pride was too straight, that LGBT people did not feel safe there and and that trustees could be breaching Charity Commission rules by "running a party disguised as a charity".

    7:27 PM — A man convicted of murdering trans woman Andrea Waddell has been found guilty of raping another woman. Neil MacMillan, 41, of Brighton, was found guilty today of raping the woman in her twenties five weeks before he strangled Ms Waddell, a sex worker.

    12:01 PM — Two thousand people braved the wind and rain to join a London vigil to remember victims of hate crime on Saturday evening. The crowd assembled in Trafalgar Square and heard speeches by equality minister Lynne Featherstone and Stuart Milk, the nephew of murdered US gay rights activist Harvey Milk.
