Brian Souter says society may ‘implode’ if ‘traditional marriage’ falls 100
12:03 PM — Scottish entrepreneur and SNP donor Brian Souter says society is in danger of "imploding" if "traditional marriage" declines. The businessman, who fought to save Section 28 ten years ago, was answering questions about his views on gay marriage.

10:58 AM — Scottish entrepreneur Brian Souter, who gave £1 million to the campaign to keep Section 28, has accused Google of blocking his personal website. The Stagecoach founder accused the search engine of censoring free speech and said his website, briansouter.com, had "mysteriously disappeared" from Google's top results for his name.

12:13 PM — Gay rights charity Stonewall has announced the nominees for its annual Hero and Bigot of the Year awards. Those in the running for Bigot of the Year include Daily Mail columnist Melanie Phillips who claimed gay charities were "brainwashing children" and MSP Bill Walker, who said gay relationships should not be "in any way equal" to straight ones.

Knighthood for Section 28 backer Brian Souter 109
11:27 AM — Brian Souter, the Stagecoach co-founder who gave £1 million to a 2000 campaign to uphold Section 28, has been honoured with a knighthood. The 57-year-old businessman has not spoken out against gay rights in 11 years but almost 2,500 people have signed a petition calling for the honour to be rescinded.
