12:35 PM — The Catholic Church in Scotland has intensified its attacks on proposals to give gay couples the right to marry. Bishop of Paisley Philip Tartaglia, who is expected to become the next Archbishop of Glasgow when Mario Conti steps down, said marriage equality would be "an act of cultural vandalism".

11:07 AM — The former Bishop of Rochester, the Rt Rev Michael Nazir-Ali, has claimed that Elton John and David Furnish's new baby psychological welfare is at risk. The cleric said he was concerned that baby Zachary had been born by surrogate mother to two fathers and suggested that John was too old to be a dad at the age of 64.

Government appointment of faith advisors attacked as ‘cynical’ 25
1:39 PM — The appointment of 13 'faith advisors' to the government has been attacked by the National Secular society as "cynical" and "an insult to non-religious Britons". The charity warned that most people "disregard" religious teachings on issues such as homosexuality and said the appointment was "undemocratic".
