1:03 PM — An American study of gay, lesbian and bisexual teenagers finds that they are 40 per cent more likely to be punished at school or by the police and courts than their straight peers. The Yale University study found that lesbian and bisexual girls were particularly at risk.

Poll finds gay people are coming out at a younger age 17
11:40 AM — A poll by gay rights charity Stonewall has found that the average age for gay and bisexual teenagers to come out is now 15. The online survey of 1,536 openly gay or bisexual people found that the age for coming out has steadily fallen over the last 20 years.

5:32 PM — A study of sexually-active American teenagers says that almost one in ten has same-sex partners. In 2002, a similar study of teenagers in Vermont and Massachusetts found that only five to six per cent had same-sex partners.
