US: 30 Gay and lesbian lawyers to be sworn into the Supreme Court next week 1
1:00 AM — 30 openly gay and lesbian lawyers will be sworn into the US Supreme Court bar in a ceremony to be held next week. It will be the first time that representatives of the National LGBT Bar Association will take part in the mass swearing-in that occurs when the court is in session.

Charges dropped against three men in New York ‘gay bashing’
5:26 PM — Three of the 11 men charged with an homophobic attack in New York have had the charges against them dropped. Bryan Almonte, 17, Steven Carabello, 17, and Brian Cepeda, 16, were cleared of any involvement in the October 3rd attack yesterday and were released from jail.

Annise Parker elected first out gay mayor of Houston 1
11:19 AM — Annise Parker, an out lesbian, has been elected mayor of Houston, Texas. The vote makes the city the largest in the US to elect an openly gay mayor. Parker won against city attorney Gene Locke by 53.6 per cent of the vote.
