Lesbian asylum seeker wins right to stay in UK 6
4:34 PM — A lesbian asylum seeker from Jamaica has been granted the right to stay in the UK after immigration judges ruled that she could face persecution if sent home. The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was originally told by the Home Office that she could not stay.

Twice, physically with a flat iron full of hot charcoal, in a brutal homophobic assault in Uganda which left her with permanent scars on her inner thighs. The third occasion took place here in the UK, where she has now been branded again, as a liar.

Government ‘still not collecting data on gay asylum claims’ 6
4:17 PM — The UK government has admitted that it is still not collecting data on the number of people who claim asylum or are refused on the basis of their sexual orientation. Ministers promised last year that they would protect gay asylum seekers who are fleeing persecution.

2:18 PM — A fresh appeal will be held for Ugandan asylum seeker Brenda Namigadde next week. The 29-year-old lesbian says she will be killed if deported from the UK to her home country.

Gay married couple may be split up after US deportation order 6
6:33 PM — A Brazillian man and his American husband may be split up after the US attorney-general refused to reverse an immigration order. Genesio Oliveira, 31, is married to Tim Coco, 49, of Massachusetts, but Mr Oliveira believes he may be sent back to Brazil within six months.
