Giant card and demonstration call on Prince William and Kate Middleton to support gay marriage
6:45 PM — Human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell and the Equal Love campaign have presented Prince William and Kate Middleton a wedding card that calls for their support for gay marriage. The giant card, which was handed into Buckingham Palace by scores of supporters read: "We wish you a happy life together. You can get married, gay people can't."

Gay marriage rally at Buckingham Palace

French court says no to gay marriage
1:24 PM — France's constitutional court upheld the ban on gay marriage today after a challenge from a lesbian couple. Corinne Cestino and Sophie Hasslauer, who have lived together for 15 years and have four children, asked for the right to marry but were turned down by the Constitutional Council.

Lib Dem MP Steve Gilbert calls for progress on gay marriage
3:12 PM — Liberal Democrat MP Steve Gilbert has called for progress on UK marriage equality, saying he hopes legislation can be introduced by 2015. The openly gay MP said in the House of Commons this week that while parliament obtaining a civil partnership licence was "groundbreaking", allowing gay couples to wed would be more so.

Lesbian couple have marriage bid rejected
11:05 AM — A lesbian couple were turned away from a registry office yesterday when they tried to apply to marry. Colette French and Katie Green, both 21, were turned away from Petersfield Register Office in Hampshire and refused a letter of rejection, which is usually given to couples denied a marriage.
