Elton John's gay wedding day fears
Gay singer Sir Elton John and David Furnish rushed into their civil partnership ceremony fearing a homophobic attack, it has been revealed.
The couple were the most famous pair to take advantage of the Civil Partnership Act on the day it came into effect on December 21 last year.
Furnish, a film maker, revealed he was convinced they would be target by people who opposed the law, he said: "We were worried we'd be pelted with eggs or flour so we rushed into the building, but then we came out afterwards and our families were their, and our friends, and I felt, 'Wow, I can't believe this is happening.'"
