We can not allow a situation similar to the decriminalisation of homosexuality - in 1967 decriminalisation was enacted for England & Wales, Scotland had to wait until 1980 and Northern Ireland until 1982, an inequality which was perpetuated for another 13 and 15 years respectively; and decriminalisation was finally enacted for Northern Ireland only after a (six-year) case was taken to the European Court.
