Manchester canal death no longer suspicious say police
The death of a man who drowned in a Manchester canal is no longer being treated as suspicious.
Manchester police said today that the case of Alexander ‘Jimmy’ Lynch has now been passed to the coroner.
Mr Lynch, 46, drowned in a canal close to Ducie Street and Dale Street, around 2am on Friday October 3rd.
The area is sometimes used by men who are looking for sex with other men and gay groups had joined forces with the police to appeal for witnesses.
Detectives had earlier said there were a number of potential witnesses who were in the area at the time of Jimmy’s death.
The Lesbian and Gay Foundation offered to act as an intermediary between the witnesses and the police.
