"Labour has transformed Britain for LGBT people" - er, actually if you look at where the changes have started it's far more honest to say that Europe and the Lib Dems have.

Equal age of consent, abolishing the military ban - came from Europe. Civil Partnerships, gender recognition act - came from the Lib Dems. And so forth. The only thing Labour have actually done off their own bat was to respond in 1999 when Europe outlawed employment discrimination against trans people, and Labour responded by bringing in a whole raft of exemptions from that rule to take away the rights that trans people had just won.

Does Theresa think we have the attention span of the stereotypical goldfish?

Time and again the Lib Dems have put LGBT equality proposals forward, after a few years (between 5 and 20 years depending on the issue) Labour have decided to go along with a watered-down version of the Lib Dem proposals, and the Tories have voted against.

They've never been a party that cared for diversity or equality, and while they might not actively repeal anything in their first term back in power, we won't be seeing anything positive happen either.

Slight bit of biased reporting going on here I think. The Tory amendment actualiy stated "a father or a male role model", not specifically "a father".

Almost all evidence available on the subject shows that children, particularly boys benefit from having positive male role models (which don't necessarily have to be a father).

According to the most recent figures from the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA), only 1.4% of all women receiving IVF cycles were single, while only 0.5% of all women receiving IVF cycles were registered as lesbian - that's 574 cycles and 201 cycles respectively. When you consider that women can often undergo more than one cycle, that's just not very many women. And "the reality," says Summerskill, "is that almost every lesbian couple with children works assiduously to ensure that there are male role models for their children, whether they be family members or good friends."

So are people maybe just being a little hypersensitive and only hearing what they want to hear? The amendment proposed to the Act was much more likely to affect heterosexual single woman than lesbians.

She lied when she said they supported civil partnerships - the tory view was identical to the christian institute view who wanted it opened up to flatmates, siblings etc. Also, if it hadn't been due to pressure from tories and right wing christians we might have got full marriage equality. That was a blatant lie when she said they supported it! Shame!

It is a total joke for the Tories to pretend they have changed. They have voted against our equality in parliament over and over again. Cameron tried to keep Section 28 and opposed equality for women seeking IVF. They never voted for us, we will never vote for them. Labour has transformed Britain for LGBT people and will keep fighting the Tories bigotry.

'What we are trying to do is actually stand back on the equality legislation and see if there is a different approach we should be taking, a more positive approach rather than a negative approach, if I can put it like that....'

So, does this mean that Christian registrars' 'right' to act above the law and exercise their bigotry will be given protection or not?

This is why I don't trust the tories. Not because of dead issues like Section 28, but the chance that religious beliefs will be respected even when it inconveniences others. If they talk of a bill of rights, then I would expect to see the freedom from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation in that bill. Only then will I trust the Tories; I am not taking Mrs May's word for it - faith afterall is not a virtue.

I would like to believe that they have changed but I’m not sure.
I would like them to actively campaign for “Equality” and not just begrudgingly “accept it”
