Sorry to post twice, but I just discovered this relevant snippet about the book's original author on Wikipedia...

[Maurice] Sendak mentioned in a September, 2008 article in The New York Times that he is gay, and had been living with his partner Eugene Glynn, a psychoanalyst since 1957 (50 years), prior to Dr. Glynn’s death in May 2007. Revealing that he never told his parents, he said, "All I wanted was to be straight so my parents could be happy. They never, never, never knew."[3] Sendak's relationship with Glynn had been mentioned by other writers before (e.g., by Tony Kushner in 2003[4]) but his sexuality wasn't widely known before the New York Times article.

That was kind of poignant to me.

Why does Pink News continue to confuse set reports and PREviews with REviews? This film doesn't come out until next year unless you had a private screening. I'm fine with a "behind the scenes" article as long as you've got something to say that I couldn't have guessed myself. Otherwise please wait till the preview screening or seeing it yourself at a cinema before calling it a review. OK, pedantic rant over...
Still, having seen a rather cute kid/ wildthing interaction test for the movie on youtube, this could be great, though it needs a substantial amount of padding to pad out 10 sentances to a full 2 hours running time. Can't wait to see what the finalised Wild Things look like. It's the kind of stuff Jim Henson's studio used to do really well.
