Whilst I respect your sentiment Reverend, what ever Jesus did or did not do, whether he did or did not exist, religion is and always was about the few maintaining power and control over the masses.

Whilst there are countless good followers of every religion, who believe what they believe in the hope that it will be for the betterment of mankind, invariably the higher you get up the religious tree, the stronger the fetid stench of corruption oozing from those who have climbed there on the backs of others, driven by a thirst for power and control.

What we are seeing in Africa is a group of bishops who have outgrown their little pond, ceasing an opportunity as they see it to strengthen their power base and extend from their home territories. They are like primitive warlords fighting a guerrilla war, with scant concern about collateral damage – the end justifies the means I’m sure.

Despite this, good to see the Bishop of Wales (and you) can still show a little generosity of spirit. Clearly all is not lost.

Archbishop Morgan is absolutely correct in his assessment of present day fundamentalists damaging Anglican Unity. I would go further and say that these fundamentalists, claiming to champion a true expression of Anglicanism, actually are distorting both the Anglican tradition, and more importantly the very gospel teaching and example of Jesus. Exclusionary arrogance never marked Jesus' teaching or living. He was know, and derided for, his eating and sharing with the socially unacceptable (according to the dominant voices of his day). Those fundamentalists today who so eagerly voice a desire to return to the Bible and the teachings of Jesus, really ought to do just that. There is a richness in diversity and there are great ramifications when diversity is threatened or diminished (whether in thought, expression, or even in our bio-ecologic environment). It is the "Christian" fundamentalists that are breaking up the Anglican Communion, not those of us who support full inclusion of all, regardless of who we / they are sexually attracted to, and regardless of how that attraction or love is expressed. It's really quite simple (in the words of 1 John 4:7) "let us love one another, because love is from God" - if we claim God does not put conditions on who God loves and accepts, neither should we.
