The biggest stumbling block is the RC church of course and the only way to diminish its power is to push for its disestablishment, stop granting it tax-exempt status and let it fend for itself. Its losing the cultural war and it knows it only too well. Its the same with gay conservatives in America, the Log Cabin republicans who continuously support a party that legislates hate discrimination in the form of a ban on same-sex marriage in no fewer than 27 states. They naively believe they can change their party from within. How absurd. I've no doubt their Irish counterparts concur. Hang in there, you'll win in the end, its inevitable. And what's truly amazing is that not one of these backward f*cks had the courage to put a name to this "motion" outside that Jim Walsh cretin. If they are so sure of their convictions, they should nail your colours to the mast and have the decency to say who they are. How anyone gay can in this country can vote for that party is beyond me. Not deserving of the same rights as my staight friends but still deserving of paying taxes to a government that hides behind the catholic church. And don't get me started about the Iona institute, if they are not sticking their rosaries to the women of Irelands ovaries they are sticking their nose into the lives of the gay population.
