Tell you what, let's castrate the man, grow mutations on his chest and deprive him of the necasery hormones for his emotions to function properly, then see if he still thinks "sex changes" are a choice.

Bill, yes, they have become the mirror image of the republicans and in the case of the DUP, worse but their power is slowly eroding. They are desperate people and the behaviour they exhibit is evidence of that. They know they are losing the cultural war, not fast enough, but its happening.

Why are the Tories and the DUP always wrong?

Why is it necessary for them to oppose every advance of the GLBT struggle for equality like sex reassignment surgery, lesbian reproductive rights, asylum for GLBT refugees and anti-hate speech laws?

Are these two parties fast becoming the equivalent of the Republicans, dominated by theocratic religious cultists?

The cost to the NHS is miniscule in comparison to other treatments. Furthermore, what this MP clearly fails to understand is that in not treating the condition of transsexualism – confirmed by juriceprudence as recognised medical condition (as if the DSM or ICD, or even the facts looking people in the face were not enough!) – the resulting outpatient care for anxiety and depression, to cost in policing to deal with trans people being attacked, the cost of inpatient care of all those likely to crack under the stress and pain of the condition, and the cost to the state benefits system due to the resulting inability to work… well, lets just summarise and say that his suggestion doesn’t work. The facts are that it costs more to not treat the condition than it does to treat it. This man has his head in the clouds – where his feet are I don’t know, but they certainly arn’t on the earth! Shame on him, as he should know better.

Having a baby is also a choice, perhaps Mr. Pritchard should revisit that and decide if maternity care should be at the expense of the NHS, unwed mothers included. I stongly diasgree that gender assignment surgery is necessarily a choice.
