Coronation Street: Liz dumps Vernon
The week gets off to a tense start as Vernon and Liz go to a view a bar together. It’s clear that something is amiss from the start as Vernon is mad with excitement about the prospect of buying a bar together while Liz can muster no enthusiasm at all. Things go from bad to worse once there, as the couple fail to see eye-to-eye. Vernon is convinced the bar’s a winner while Liz doesn’t seem too sure. Is there more to her reluctance than meets the eye?
Vernon is devastated when Liz finally confesses that not only does she not want to run a bar with him, but wants out of the marriage too. Completely shocked, Vernon tries to persuade her not to throw it all away but she tearfully confesses that she should never have married him. How will Vernon cope now that his dreams have been shattered?
Later, Liz feels guilty about it all but tells Michelle she knows she has done the right thing. It doesn’t take Harry long to start sniffing round Liz, but she makes it clear that she hasn’t left Vernon only to jump straight in to bed with him. But will Harry convince her otherwise?
Toward the end of the week, as Vernon prepares to leave the Rovers, Lloyd takes pity on him. He manages to persuade Vernon to bunk up with him for a while and not to leave the Rovers for good. Will Vernon be able to pick up the pieces of his life?
There’s more tension in the street this week between Roy and Becky. The problem starts when Becky takes the bar job in the Rovers despite Roy’s obvious disapproval. Jason is pleased to see her behind the bar though. And he’s not the only one. Even Ken compliments Becky on how well she is doing there. But Roy is still not happy about it. Will Becky be able to change his mind?
Roy is infuriated even further when he catches Becky and Jason having a marathon snog-fest outside the builder’s yard, having just got back together. Becky wastes no time in telling everyone that she and Jason are an item again, despite Roy’s clear disapproval. Will these two ever patch up their differences?
Things sour even further when Roy lets her know in no uncertain terms exactly how he feels about her relationship with Jason. As Becky gets even more annoyed, the two are soon rowing in the café – and getting quite personal with it. Have their hurtful words destroyed the relationship for good?
Elsewhere, Tony and Carla are back to their scheming ways as they plan how to get Rita and Norris to sell their business. When Tony offers the market price plus £25,000, Rita can’t help but be interested, much to Norris’s dismay. He can’t believe Rita is even considering selling the business and points out that it is at the heart of the community.
But it looks like Rita is already getting carried away with the idea. She starts exploring retirement plans and even looking at properties abroad. It seems that Tony may have got his way despite Norris’s attempts to block a sale. Will Norris be able to talk Rita round?
