In part it stems from the "child ownership" view many people take. It's also: revenge; wanting a clean absolute break; maybe money.

What it comes down to is that a joint agreement to raise children is broken, and all sorts of devices are used to try and justify it.

It is sad that people use the repressive laws against their own sexuality: how can this person's word be trusted ever again?
