I must say, with schism imminent, the Archbishop really needs to take a stand. He either stands with the hatred of the African Bishops and the anti-woman American homophobic Bishops OR he can stand with the UK and American Bishops who wish to follow the Prince of Peace and Love. His choice. But he really needs to decide soon. This middle of the fence farce is winning him no points anywhere.

Pretty amusing considering the large number of Rowan Williams' friends who have had civil partnerships registered in recent years… without any religion of course – even for the priests involved in those occasions.

IIt is quiet interesting to hear my brothers across the pond refer to Charles and Camilla. They are not part of my every day existence, so they are rarely on my mind. However, the Archbishop of Canterbury is often on my mind. As a liberal, lesbian, partnered member of the Episcopal Church of America, I am often dismayed at his lack of spine since his accession. We honestly looked upon his election as a step forward for our community. His liberal positions gave us hope that he would be an advocate for not only the LGBT community but also for the full equality of womyn within the life of the Church of England. A week rarely passes that he does not disappoint. Now as we move into Lambeth, we can only sit back and wait to see how he caves into the pressure from the Global South, who have no issues with polygamy and even in some cases openly advocate for the harassment and abuse of LGBT members of their respective societies. I fail to see anything Christian about them. I’m personally sick of being the whipping girl of these bigots and hope that +Rowan will begin to speak truth to power for once in his life.

Of course they condemned it. They’re christists: mean spirited, tight assed, superstitious clot heads who’ve never worked a day in their lives.

Wherever they have influence, in Europe, in the Americas and elsewhere they're the main enemy of the GLBT communities. They’d like to have the same power exercised by the murderous ayatollahs of Iran and they unquestionably have the same intent to harm us.

What’s keeping us safe (except for the harassment, beatings, murders and discrimination they and the conservatives instigate) are secularism and the movements struggling to achieve real democracy; our own GLBT movements: the antiwar movement, trade unions, the feminist movement, national independence movements and the socialist movement.

apYrs, exactly so. One rule for straights who can marry and divorce as many times as they wish and a ban on gays marrying, legally, who they claim is a threat to the "institution". Prove it, Williams, seems to me you and your fellow straights are the biggest threat of all if Charles and Camilla's adultery is anything to go by, and you have the gall to discriminate against gays ever marrying. Its clear which is the bigger threat to marriage, not us, but THEM and your kind, Williams, you hypocrite!

they are quick off the blocks to condemn this blessing of a gay civil partnership: they also found it incredibly easy to accommodate the remarriage of two divorcees (Charles and Camilla) despite scripture anf their own doctrinal teachings.

They find it impossible to deprecate the hateful attitude within their own ranks.
