Reality TV starlet claims credit for same-sex marriage in California
"Bisexual temptress" Tila Tequila is claiming she was at least partially responsible for the California Supreme Court’s decision to overturn a ban on same-sex marriage in the state.
The star of MTV’s A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila told Us Weekly that she believes her show paved the way for gay and lesbian marriage equality in the Golden State.
Whether the comments were meant to be tongue in cheek, or Tequila actually believes her feminine wiles are that powerful, her remarks already have some gossip bloggers wagging their tongues in disbelief.
In an interview with Us Weekly, Tequila brazenly stated the Supreme Court decision to allow same-sex marriage in California was at least partially because of the success of her series on MTV. The reality dating show pits lesbians and straight men against each other to win Tequila’s heart.
Discussing the lifting of the ban on gay and lesbian marriage in California, Tequila told Us Weekly: “It is because of me—I definitely think [my show] has helped the movement. Before it came out, everyone was still a little apprehensive about [same-sex relationships.]Then they realized, ‘Wow, everyone is really into this stuff, and it is fine.’ The next thing you know, [same-sex marriage] is legal.”
Perhaps Perez Hilton said it best this afternoon when he posted Tequila’s quotes from Us Weekly on his gossip blog. “Tila Tequila,” Hilton said, “…really…we think you should just keep yer mouth shut, unless you’re [fill in the blank].”
Tequila reportedly went on to talk about how she gets bored of having too much guy or having too much girl and has to switch back and forth to spice things up. Since so far Tequila has failed to find true love through reality television, she told US Weekly that she might go to Africa, where “maybe I will fall in love.”
As Perez says: “Random… Was she on drugs?”
