This is the same path followed in other cultures who have taken further steps in awareness, moving from illness to simple variant in the rich human reality. The final step to be taken is for all (Churched and non-churched) is to celebrate the diversity as created by G-D and positively incorporate GLBT persons into their community life and theologies. Embargos are another option it should mull, harsh yes, but if Poland wants to take its place alongside civilised countries in western Europe, then it has to conform and abide by the rules. No member state should be able to opt out of anything and nondiscrimination legislation MUST be mandated, not just advocated. Poland is not the only offending nation of course, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Greece, Italy and others should be held to the same standard. But they are still very strong and powerful. It comes from history and tradition of Poland. If you want understand Polish catholicism, you must look deeper in our history. Church was only opposition against communist regime for almost 60 years. And it is really very hard to step back for Polish people to understand, how powerful this church they made. But I am hopeful that with external friendship and support, we can brake this walls of bigotry, hate and homophobia. But we need support. Talking abut removing Poland from EU doesn't change anything.
