errr she is actually STILL chair of the Countryside Alliance"her support of fox hunting comes from having grown up on a farm where chickens were routinely ripped apart by foxes."Oh dear that's a pretty poor argument, she obviously did not keep her chickens very well. So according to your 'logic' because a sentient creature trying to survive takes chickens and kills more (its natural unlike fox hunting) for later, it then deserves to be chased to exhaustion for mile upon mile by a pack of dogs all for 'sport'.These dogs being bred for stamina not speed, so as to provide people like Ms Hoey with as long and drawn out chase.Any natural escape routes are blocked by the hunt terrier men the night before. If the terrified fox does find a hole Ms Hoeys thug friends have missed then the thugs dig it out to be chased again or they send terriers in.It is the most debased activity and I have had the misfortune to witness it.That is why it was banned, like badger baiting and other disgusting activities which shame us all.I would hope and I believe the majority of Pink News readers agree that such violence and cruelty in the name of 'sport' has no place in our society. What does it tell you about a person who could engage in such activity?

She ‘used to be’ chair the Countryside Alliance, to be picky, and her support of fox hunting comes from having grown up on a farm where chickens were routinely ripped apart by foxes. I’m not a supporter of fox hunting at all, but she strongly believed in something and she voted with her conscience.As to whether she’s a Tory, what actually is a Tory anymore these days? Traditionally the party of the right, they have been voting against the more right wing policies that we have seen attempts to introduce in Blair’s Britain – New Labour’s failed attempts to remove the right to trial by jury, unlimited detention without trial of anyone who can spell Arab, not to mention the soon to flounder ID cards. So I suppose in your way you are right – Kate has actually voted against all of those with the Conservatives. Does this make her a Tory then, or does it just make her the socialist principled MP she was elected to be? Oh yeah and she did vote (with the Tories) against the Labour (the party of the working man) government proposal to scrap the 10p tax bracket for the most financial challenged member of society.Could it perhaps that in their thirst for power New Labour actually sacrificed anything and everything it ever believed in to get where it is?

She has been damned for offering to provide Boris with ‘non-partisan’ advice in much the same way as Gordy has been getting advice from various Tories of late – clearly different of course though. Begs the question about the sort of advice that Gordy has been getting, possibly something along the lines of, “That’s it just steer the wheel to the left a bit, straight towards the iceberg.”There’s no place for the principled in New Labour and I suspect we are going to see the party implode. No one wants Gordie now, but no one wants to take the helm as they plunge into opposition, so he may well continue to flounder from disaster to disaster for the next two years. They will blame everyone but themselves for their fall from grace and they’ll scapegoat Kate and anyone else who makes an easy target. The fact that Lee Jasper’s name has even been mentioned in connection with public office again with Labour is an indication of how out of touch they are with the public view. Although to give him credit to some extent he as improved community cohesion in London – black or white, everyone believes him a crook.Poor old Kate stands up and says whoever is mayor she will work with them to create a better London and every New Labour knife in the capital is drawn. Something definitely wrong with politics, and something definitely right with Kate.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but Kate Hoey is going to work with the new London Mayor. You see, what separates Kate from her peers, is that she acts and thinks like a servant of the people. If only the rest of our politicians could think and act like her.

Nice to see how the Labour Party knives come out for one of the few Labour MPs in London who actually represents the interests of her constituents.While Harriet Harmon, Tessa Jowell, Keith Hill and the other prominent London Labour MPs were running round south London in a flat back lorry boarding up every Post Office in sight, Kate was opposing closures every step of the way.Labour can kiss the seat goodbye if Ken's discredited advisor Lee Jasper fails to take the hint and tries to get his hands on public office (and the public purse) again.Steve 'King Herod' Reed has already failed to be selected for the Streatham seat that Keith Hill is vacating. Having sold the borough's council tenants down the river, by forcing an ALMO transfer immediately after election, after omitting to mention it in his manifesto, and failing to reign in the unethical and irresponsible private parking contractor that screws residents of the borough left right and centre, despite his manifesto promise to do so, I think the residents of Vauxhall might have a thing or two to say if Labour can find no one better than him.Gavin who? is a nobody, unrecognizable to almost everyone and will not secure the personal vote of Hoey’s supporters if they oust here.It’s interesting that the article doesn’t in any way refer to Kate’s good points. She is beholden to no one. She represents in the interests of her constituents first before any party political interests. She has often been critical of the government and most political commentators would agree she has rightly done so.As sports minister she attacked Manchester United’s ‘ignorant and disgraceful’ decision to pull out of the FA Cup and was rounded on by that good friend of Sir Alex Ferguson, and chief Labour spin doctor, Alistair Campbell, shortly then after losing her ministerial post.Ken Livingston of all people has slammed her as being a ‘semi-detached’ member of the party. A little rich coming from Ken a man who in recent years has questionably even been that.She has opposed ID cards as a huge waste of money, she has opposed the removal of the 10p tax for the lowest paid. Again and again she has stood defiantly against the government when if fails to act in the best interests of the people who elected her. It will be very interesting to see the Labour Party brave enough and stupid enough to oust her.
