Robert – "Have any of us heard a word from religious leaders in the west and elsewhere regarding the situation of our gay brothers and sisters in Iran for instance?" Tutu is not a 'western' religious leader but he does, almost alone, stand up for us and for the Palestinians. You're right though, except for him the voices of sanity in the cults are few and far in between. And that's in spite of the fact that many guess that about one third of priests are GLBT.

Islam, like all cults, is a thoroughly retrogressive movement with a very political ideology. For the most part their ideology is profoundly anti-democratic. In that, as Robert points out, it’s identical to that of most christian and jewish cults. Like the archbishops and televangelists, the ayatollahs and mullahs can always be found defending the interests of the rich and maneuvering against the interests of working people, women, students, GLBT folk and other social groups struggling against repression. As a whole muslim, christian and jewish cultists are AGAINST modernism, Darwinism, humanism, scientific progress and economic and political democracy. They’re FOR superstition, bigotry, union busting, misogyny and some, especially the catholic cult, are for the spread of HIV/AIDS. Their agenda supports the status quo and calls on ‘believers’ to commit violence against minorities, non-believers and the GLBT communities. Even if they don’t specifically call for violence their hate filled christian sermonizing and muslim fatwa’s encourage and enable the violence. Nevertheless, the basis for the growing animosity between western and mulsim states has nothing to do with religion. That hostility is first and foremost the result of the US sponsored genocide against the Iraqis. In what will prove to be a vain attempt to steal their oil, the invasion and occupation by the US and its English allies is solely and directly responsible for the murder of over a million Iraqi civilians. That is not war by any definition, it’s simply genocide. The only solution is the immediate and total withdrawal of all US and English forces from the region. Secondly there’s the impact of the decades long land grab by the zionists, enforced from day one by terrorist violence against the Palestinians. The situation recently degenerated into a South Africa style colonialist apartheid slave system. The zionists apartheid system is backed up by the threat of nuclear annihilation for anyone who objects’ to the growth of ‘Eretz Yisrael”, a concept of state power doomed to follow the self destructive path of ‘Grossedeutchland’, which fell somewhat short of lasting its predicted 1000 years. The only solution is the dissolution of the zionist state and the creation of a secular, democratic Palestine.

Oliver, thank you. What I will add is that Islam is not alone. To a lesser extent, Christianity and Orthodox Judaism have also played a part in our struggles using a questionable reference from the old testament but ignoring others that apply to [them]. To this day, the majority of Christian sects, cults, denominations subscribe to it, including the C of E. By their adherence to "scripture" they are giving tacit consent to discrimination which in some cases ends in a fatal outcome and denial of basic human rights. The Catholic church in particular describes our "behaviour" as intrinsically evil, penned by Papa Ratzi the Rottweiler in the Vatican when he was a cardinal. Hating the sin but loving the sinner doesn't wash any more. It has the potential to incite hatred (which it has done over and over) and again, tacitly gives consent to violence against us. Have any of us heard a word from religious leaders in the west and elsewhere regarding the situation of our gay brothers and sisters in Iran for instance? The answer is a resounding NO! Need I say more?

Quite right, both of you Roberts. The problem, as Boris no longer has the courage to say, is Islam – here and abroad. I daresay that this will be deleted so I'll just carry on anyway. I'll probably be accused of 'religio-centric racism' or some such other meaningless phrase. Islam is a supremacist gay-hating, women-hating, vicious and anti-democratic political whole-life system which, in my opinion, once again poses the biggest threat to western liberal democracies since it was defeated at the gates of Vienna and in Southern France just a few hundred years ago.We have fought hard for our rights as gay people and Islam and those who believe in it, as opposed to those Muslims-for-identification-purposes-only who are just as afraid of this 'faith' as we are (for to leave the faith invites the (illegal in our societies) death penalty), would take from us, in their rabid world view, our right to exist and to lead our lives in our own way without interference with others.I'm fed up with reading that Islam is a religion of peace. Stuff that! It's a religion which promulgates and teaches violence against gay people, against Jews, against Israel, against women, against non-Arabs (see Darfur) even if they be Muslim, against the modern world (see Somalia and the attempt to ban cinema, football and music), in fact, against everything that makes us, us!The idiot Ahmed-dinner-jacket said at the UN that there are no gays in Iran; well, no, he's hanged them all! And he will keep right on hanging them until we challenge him and his Islamic bloodlust. But what's really bad, what really makes me sick, is that people like him say that his prophet in his holy book, the koran, commands this. Now that's really warped and twisted! But what's even more warped and twisted is that he's right. The koran and the a'hadith do indeed command that.Islam, the religion of peace – the peace of the grave.Oliver.

Roberto, I'm in total agreement with you on that. What is more galling is that some islamic extremists migrate to western countries, ours included, and mouth off against the west once they're here. We in turn could not do that in their countries, we'd be hauled off to jail, tortured and probably have our heads lopped off. Its a disgusting rationale indeed. Time it was changed.

What is so very "sick" about this whole asylum situation here in the UK is the fact we bend over backwards in the Courts to ensure known, and often convicted, terrorists are able to stay. Because as the Courts always say, "it's against their [the torrorist's] Human Rights?!Yet, the very people who will 100% suffer at the hands of many extrme Islamic Governments, or areas controlled by the very terrorists we are so keen to protect in the UK, are members of the LGBT community who the Government say are not worth protecting!?This is a sick and very twisted rationale indeed.It's time the whole EU stopped sending back very vulnerable people back to certain torture or death.
