Bill Perdue's comments here are nothing but boorish lies and hypocrisy.And Sister, looks like our medicating chomping friend Bill prefers to go under the name Donal1944 as well on US sites. It wont surprise you to see that same boring and repetitive statements are on numerous sites in the US, its almost like he cut and paste the same petty insults from other sites to this one. Sad little boy (I'm guessing our pal Billy/Donal was born in 1944, so the term "boy" is used with some poetic licence).Clearly he thinks of himself as some "activist" when he is nothing but unfortunate reject of society who happens to be gay. Just a few days ago conservative George Bush said the attack on the Shiites was ‘the defining moment’ of the invasion, but suddenly he’s clammed up. Not a peep. Do you suppose the fact that his English allies are holed up on an air base and staying as far away from the fighting in Basra as possible has something to do with his sudden silence? Or is it the fact that the supporters of the colonial Quisling government were trashed by the insurrectionists. Or was it the sustained missle and mortar attaks on the US compound in the Green Zone. It's all beginning to sound a lot like the Vietnam endgame. For all that Sadam Hussein was a monster and brutal dictator he never came close to murdering a million people. That was the genocidal work of the invading US and English armed forces. And it got much worse when the invaders armed competing Sunni and Shiite factions and set them against each other.The intransigent support of Conservatives and Republicans for the genocide in Iraq and for the deportation of GLBT refugees to certain torture and death are why people are able to connect the dots and see that racist islamophobia is their common motive.

Maybe we should stop even discussing this with Bill and the other guy, they are both condemning everyone roundly for generalising and targeting certain points with a closed view, then come up with their own statements such as: "According to most sources the genocide against Iraqi muslims, justified by islamophobic lies about weapons of mass destruction, is well over 1,000,000, based on estimates derived from the Lancet."Which Islamophobic lies were those, then? Because I was under the impression that most Iraq war supporters (I can't talk about George Bush, though) wanted to see an end to the tyranny of Saddam Hussein on the Iraqi people and his constant threatening insinuations against other countries.You can only debate with people who are willing to debate, not just radically defend their opinion, before turning to insults. And they are so wrong that it seems pointless to me, why don't we save our energy for speaking to someone who has a clue on the issue? They can't really do anything about that, can they.

Is islamophobia a form of racism primarily used by George Bush’s Conservative and Republican lapdogs to justify the genocide accompanying his oil piracy in Iraq? Or is simply it an attack on superstitious bigotry? The answer explains much of the ranting, lies and tortured logic used in this discussion by Conservatives like Twisted Sister, Luke and others. It’s entirely legitimate, more, it’s mandatory, that GLBT activists make every attempt to defend our GLBT brothers and sisters, especially those trying to flee Iran and Iraq, the twin epicenters of violence against GLBT folk. Opposing the violence of the ignorant, superstitious christian and muslim cultists is something most honest activists at PinkNews are happy to do. In fact, Omar Kuddus helped launch a successful effort to defend Mehdi Kazemi in the pages of PinkNews and we all remember that the stand he took helped galvanize support for Mehdi around the world. Unfortunately Omar had to deal with a series of obnoxious racist attacks by a small clique of highly coordinated and organized Conservatives, as has every honest activist who posts here. Twisted Sister, who styles himself “Sister Mary Clarence’, speaking about Omar’s successful court challenges, vented his own dangerous combination of institutionalized homophobia and islamophobia when he said “We’ve got… someone whose boyfriend is supposedly facing extradition it would appear largely to his own belligerence and lack of respect for British law and the immigration system and someone else with a very unhealthy fixation with a 15 year old boy.” As the situation with Mehdi’s case heated up other racist Conservative islamophobes chimed in opposing granting him asylum, including Luke. The organized Conservative campaign to smear Oman Kuddus and oppose asylum for Kazemi and other refugees from the Ayatollahs are proof positive that these Conservatives are indeed racists and bigots whose so called ‘opposition’ to islamic gay bashers is mere hypocrisy to cover their real agenda, which is half internalized homophobia and half racist islamophobia. Religions, all of them, and especially the powerful abrahamic cults – judaism, christianity and islam – are based on superstition and have been diehard enemies of democracy, science, and humanism. All three sects have long had policies of tormenting and persecuting GLBT communities. The Conservative allegation that islamophobia is not racism but simply opposition to a gay bashing cult is as rancid as claims by anti-Semites that they’re just opposed to some mythical judaic conspiracy. (That at least was the Conservative justification for the violent anti-Semitism common in reactionary circles like the Hitler admiring “Cliveden Set” prior to World War II.) Both anti-Semitism and islamophobia are racist at their core. The racism inherent in islamophobia is particularly dangerous for GLBT mulsims because when combined with homophobia, as it in the case of Conservatives and BNP types opposed to asylum, it condemns our brothers and sisters to certain death and torture at the hands of the Ayatollahs and the US/English armed jihadist death squads in Iraq. Beyond that, islamophobia is taking a big toll worldwide. According to most sources the genocide against Iraqi muslims, justified by islamophobic lies about weapons of mass destruction, is well over 1,000,000, based on estimates derived from the Lancet. This follows the genocide against muslims in Bosnia-Herzegovina which resulted in the murder of as many as 200,000. In Africa christian death squads, many linked to anglican cult leader Peter Akinola have launched murder campaigns against muslims, who’ve replied in kind. Add to this the long standing zionist policy of murdering Palestinians and condemning them to live under apartheid conditions and the growing death toll of muslim immigrants at the hands of skinheads and you can see the terrible cost of islamophobia. . .

Actually, John, most people here have all said that they are opposed to ALL religious intolerance, and its not about singling our Islam. If you take the time to actually READ the posts, you'll see that.You talk about "total demonisation of Muslims in the mainstream media". Are you blind to the total demonisation of gays by Muslims calling for our death? And we are supposed to be "tolerant" of their arrogant beliefs when they are so intolerant? The same is also true of nearly all organised religions, and I for one will always speak out against any religion that preaches intolerance and oppression, like Islam. Yes, like Islam, John… time to start reading the news properly.It's YOU who seems to be singling out Islam as the victim. Keep that belief as you want, but criticising a religion is not racism, nor is it wrong. You clearly scream hate-crime when you see someone even looking in the direction of a Muslim, and that's your cross to bear (pardon the religious pun), but I for one don't want to see our kind ending up in death camps again wearing a pink triangle becasue it "offends" some sanctimonious muppets with the belief they think they know what god wants!

I did not indicate that I thought they represented the same extremes.Although, for the record, were pigs to fly, and either one achieved any degree of election success, either one would be a disaster for the country.Interestingly I notice you’ve got the same trait of ‘misunderstanding’ any arguments used against you, in the same way as several other Respect/Socialist Worker devotees that I know. Is it something you pick up at the meetings, or do you have to go on a special course to learn the skill? It’s an interesting debating tactic, but in my experience of limited value, once you’ve seen it used once, you tend to see straight through it whenever its used again.Everyone in this country has the right to religious freedom, but that freedom extends to the right not to believe in the Bible, the Koran or any other book of religious teachings. For, many hundred of years this country has lived under the oppression of Christianity and only in recent times have we begun to shake that shadow off. No sooner have we begun to do so, that Islam pops up to further cast the shadow of oppression over us again. Suddenly we have a word for criticism of Islam ‘Islamophobia’, suggesting it’s a hate crime. Christianity never needed a ‘phobia’ to deflect criticism of it, nor to the best of my knowledge has any other religion needed one, so why should Islam need one?Your arguments and accusations are immature, irrational and have no substance.
