Gay cannibal blocks film screening about his life
A film about the real life story of the German gay cannibal who killed and ate a man he met on the internet has been banned in Germany.
Self confessed cannibal, Armin Meiwes, 44, who is currently undergoing a second trial for killing and then eating a man he met in through a gay website, asked that the screening of the film be blocked.
The movie, Rohtenburg, made by gay film maker Martin Weisz was banned by a German Court because it was ruled that Meiwes' individual rights outweighed artistic freedom.
However, the killer is now reported to have entered into a book deal and negotiations for his own rights to a film.
Meiwes, was found guilty of manslaughter in the killing of Bernd Juergen Brandes, 43, in 2001. He told the court that his victim was a willing partner.
His advert said: "If you are between 18 and 25 years old you are my boy. Come to me and I eat your horny flesh" his ad said.
The case is currently under appeal from the prosecutors who argue he should have been found guilty of murder.
He is currently sentenced to eight and a half years in prison, but could face life if the appeal succeeds.
