Faze, the UK's first general gay programming channel will not launch after all. Despite 8 months of work, advertising and promotions, the channel's operators failed to reach an agreement with Sky over the funding for the service.

Faze were hoping that Sky, the UK's largest digital broadcaster service would include Faze in their standard subscription service which includes other premium channels such as Sky One and Living TV.

In a statement, the company said, "We needed at least some payment from Sky, as advertising revenue alone will not generate enough income to pay for a programming budget of sufficient quality and we could not secure funding for a subscription channel.

We really wanted to deliver the quality channel which you deserve reflecting the lives and interests of gay men today in the UK. Anything less would be a mistake, and this is why with considerable sadness we have decided not to go ahead."
