A minor member of one of Hollywood's foremost families has come out in favour of Republican Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee and expressed his opposition to gay equality.

Stephen Baldwin, who is the brother of actors Alec, Billy and Daniel, is best-known for his roles in the controversial 1994 film Threesome and 1995 thriller The Usual Suspects.

He became a born-again Christian after the attacks on New York on September 11th 2001.

During an appearance on the Howard Stern radio show, he indicated his support for the former Governor of Arkansas, who surprised pundits by comfortably winning last week's Iowa caucus.

"I don't believe that gay marriage is in line with God's Word, which is found in the Bible," Baldwin said.

"So, what I think doesn't matter; what I believe is what's in the Bible and the Bible says that gay marriage is not acceptable."

His hard line stance contrasts sharply with his more famous brother Alec Baldwin.

The Academy Award-nominated star is an outspoken liberal who has previously threatened to leave the US if George W Bush was elected President.

It is regarded as one of the earliest examples of a "Generation X" Hollywood movie where gay and bisexual characters were portrayed positively.

The support of the youngest Baldwin brother gives former Baptist pastor Mick Huckabee at least two high-profile supporters.

Action hero Chuck Norris was on stage with the former Governor when he gave his victory speech in Iowa last week.

Latest polls for today's key New Hampshire primary put Huckabee in third place behind Mitt Romney and frontrunner John McCain.
