Gay escort denies link with Senator
A gay prostitute has denied having any current involvement with US Senator Trent Lott, whose abrupt resignation yesterday sparked rumours of a sex scandal.
According to satirical politics blog, BigHeadDC.com, escort Benjamin Nicholas, whose clientele is said to include politicos, celebrities and businessmen, had a working relationship with Senator Lott.
Mr Nicholas says on his website www.benjaminnicholas.com: “First and foremost, I live by the ‘Golden Rule’ with mutual respect being my priority to each of my guys.
“Secondly, the group of guys that I see is a very small, very exclusive one. This ‘exclusivity’ doesn’t pertain to money or power, but simply to being with good people.”
On his blog and website he emphasises the high degree of confidentiality between him and his elite clients.
He once even publicly scolded gay escort Mike Jones for outing Rev. Ted Haggard as one of his gay escort business participants. “You were paid for sex, Mike,” he wrote in 2006.
“The most important rule you can follow when taking people’s money in exchange for sex is that-no matter what-their lives stay their own and whatever passes between the two of you remains private. Period.”
Mr Nicholas has denied having any relations with Senator Lott. He told BigHeadDC.com:
“Here’s my public comment, on-the-record: Sen. Lott and I have no current affiliation with one another. I’m sure he would appreciate no further scrutiny.”
On his blog yesterday he added: “It looks like a Washington DC-based blog called BigHeadDC is making claims that there was (or, is) a working relationship between myself and Senator Trent Lott.
“There are falsely pieced-together quotes that serve no purpose other than to sensationalise a completely fabricated scoop.
“I will continue to offer a great sense of confidentiality to the people I see. I have not, nor have I ever seen or had contact with Senator Trent Lott. It’s as simple as that. It never happened.”
However, BigHeadDC.com claim that email and other records confirm that the two men have met on at least two occasions.
During a press conference yesterday morning, Senator Trott, 66, gave no specific reasons for his unexpected exit from the U.S. Senate, planned for the end of this month.
“It’s time for us to do something else,” Lott said, speaking for himself and his wife Tricia. “There are no problems. I feel fine.”
However, several internet sites are alleging that Larry Flynt, the man behind Hustler magazine, may have played a role in Sen Lott’s resignation.
The media mogul has been saying for weeks that he would soon reveal a major political sex scandal.
According BigHeadDC.com, Flynt has said:
“Hustler magazine has received numerous inquiries regarding the involvement of Larry Flynt and Hustler in the resignation of Trent Lott.
“Senator Lott has been the target of an ongoing Hustler investigation for some time now, due to confidential information that we have received.”
Lott is known to have been against a range of gay rights issues throughout his terms in Congress.
The Senator notified President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour on Sunday about his plans. Barbour, a Republican, will name someone to temporarily replace the Senator.
