First Minister adviser to take up Stonewall post
Gay equality organisation Stonewall has announced the appointment of Derek Munn as director of public affairs.
Mr Munn was special adviser to the First Minister of Scotland from 2003 until earlier this year and will take up his post on 3rd December.
"We're absolutely delighted to have secured someone of Derek's background and considerable abilities to fulfil this important role within the organisation," said Ben Summerskill, Stonewall's chief executive.
"We're very pleased he's joining us as we take our wide range of work programmes further forward in imaginative and effective ways."
Mr Munn said: "I'm very excited about joining Stonewall. It's widely regarded in the political world as one of the most effective lobbying organisations in Britain and its work now extends so much further than just political lobbying."
He advised the First Minister of Scotland on a range of policy areas including health, the environment, Europe, culture and sport and previously worked for the Scottish Council for Single Homeless and was President of the National Union of Students Scotland from 1991-1992.
Mr Munn succeeds Alan Wardle, who joined Stonewall in August 2003.
Alan, a former civil servant, joins the Local Government Association as Public Affairs Director on 20th November.
