Kevin – and PinkNews – I'm afraid William is absolutely right when he says that our Gov't hasn't 'moved towards' recognition of gay relationships. All we've had here are vague promises and photo-ops in the run-up to an election, and the only move the Gov't has so far made was to scupper the Labour Party's civil union proposal in February. Which, incidentally, they will do again this week.The policy of making positive noises while doing absolutely nothing will continue indefinitely, and at the very least as long as Bertie Co can use the Zappone-Gilligan gay marriage case as a smokescreen.

Well Kevin, how are they "moving towards" recognition? Election promises? Not legislation, I'm afraid.In fact, the Irish Government has done nothing to "move towards" legal recognition… there would have to be a draft bill for that to be true. Incentive isn't enough to say they're "moving towards" anything.

actually william its entirely correctthe irish government has said it will introduce legislation therefore it has "moved towards" a legal form or protectionsorry if the sentence was too subtle for you to understand! lol

Actually, this article is incorrect. "Before today it was the only one of the 15 pre-enlargement EU nations not to have moved towards some legal form of recognition of same-sex partners."Ireland is one of the pre-enlargement EU states, but it has no legal protection/registration for same sex partnerships. Northern Ireland, as part of the UK, does.
