Lynne sweetheart, the word "gay" hasn't meant 'happy' and 'carefree' since some time in the 1930's. Gay means queer, I'm afraid. I wouldn't be to concerned, Dumbledore, like Harry Potter are not real people.

hi again, i'm not bothered if Dumbledore is/was gay,it doesn't bother me if a person is that way inclined, it was just the way that all the way through it i just thought Dumbledore was straight and just a caring person and humanitarian and i say live and let live and to each his/her own which ever way they are is the way God made them and each and every one of us, and i don't really care if Dumbledore is/was gay i still think he was ace and could be my principal anytime, i loved him to pieces-nearly as much as Harry and why has Yanis copied Sherezade on comments? take care all xx

sorry but i just have to say that J.K.Rowling 'thought' Dumbledore might have been gay, she didn't say for sure that he was and i don't think Dumbledore was gay anyhow as what he felt for Grindlewald was 'admiration' and even if he did 'love' Grindlewald it was more as a sort of brotherly thing, and if it wasn't for J.K. coming out with that then the Evangelists wouldn't be up in arms, anyway take care everyone

I think that it is quite sad that out of all of the abuse and trauma facing children, these groups put effort forth in challenging a non- issue. Dumbledore being gay should not be an issue–he is a fictional character in a book that tackles issues of morality, friendship, family, acceptance of differences and most importantly,love. I think hate ideology spred by ignorant groups such as these are the true dangers to children. Love of another regardless of race, class, gender and sexual orientation is not to be feared and challenged–ignorance is.

Right, Red, Dumbledore is now "limited" by being gay. Forgetting, for the moment, that the above is a completely ridiculous statement, would you say the same about Harry Potter? Is he "limited" by his liking for girl wizards? What about Ron? Hermione?I think you have some internal issues to sort out…

The whole issue with most people is that by kicking poor Dumbledore out of the closet, Rowling has limited the character. In other words, prior to this event, the entire Potter universe was a beautiful open landscape that could be seen as the reader wished. Dumbledore could have been gay, straight, bent, an alien or even a Republican (gasp!). There is, no liberation in this outing. It's a ball chain. Now… he’s just gay and it’s a bummer.

I, think is not a bad thing to declare Dumbledore is gay its not as if she is saying he do drugs he is gay and so many great good people in these world. she is not saying all people should go and become gay she is just expressing that this amazing character happens to be gay she is sharing personal stuff about this character to let us get more into his world. i don’t think is something bad I really don’t believe reading a book with a gay character can affect a child i think is more of what they see in the home and then start feeling confuse them but we always want to blame someone else . people should stop been so square and think this is a world full of different minds and thoughts, is a story a beautiful and entrained one, stop making such a big deal out of it !! and love to Dumbledore a great character :p
