LGBT arts festival gaining international momentum
The GFest arts festival, due to begin in November, is starting to whip up international artistic interest as it begins to receive submissions from across the globe.
The event, sponsored in part by PinkNews.co.uk, aims to provide a platform for LGBT artists to express themselves.
Divided into three broad categories, the festival will show short film screenings, performance events and a visual arts exhibition.
Organisers hope the event will allow culturally diverse and emerging identities to express themselves in new and dynamic ways.
Artists and practitioners from around the world have responded to GFest's call for submissions and a selection panel of experienced artists, and impresarios, including Barcy Cogdale, Tim Redfern and Niranjan Kamatkar, will meet in September to finalise the programming.
The festival will be organised by Wise Thoughts, an artistic organisation dedicated to creating an acceptance of ethnic and sexual identities through the arts.
More information about the festival can be found at GaywiseFestival.org.uk- sponsored by PinkNews.co.uk
