I think to say that calling someone 'a faggot' in the heat of an argument is 'anti-gay venom' might be a tincy, wincy bit of an over reaction, Robert.I'm sure we've all said things we didn't actually mean and immediately regretted uttering as soon as they came out.Jesus, some of the language I've used when I've lost my temper would make a whore blush and would probably kill my mother.The guy has apologised and even gone to therapy over it. I think we should be mature enough and have self confidence to accept an apology for a mistake made. I think we are missing the opportunity to be the bigger person in this.Ruining peoples' careers because of one small lapse from grace will not win the gay community friends or respect.

I'm not in the least bit sorry for Isaiah Washington or anyone else who spews antigay venom. They have to take responsibility for their actions like everybody else.As for "Benedicta Ratzinger" Bill, he is the antichrist, evil incarnate. Many of his clergy in the upper echelons of the Vatican are closeted Gay men who behave like Log Cabin Republicans in the U.S. who deliberately vote for antigay legislation while leading a double life of debauchery, yet deny their true sexual orientation. Their hypocrisy and bigotry is breath taking but not surprising. His organization is rotting from within, slowly but surely and he knows it. Flying off to Brazil is just a classic example of his desperation, but its too late, centuries of discrimination cannot undo any of the damage his evil empire has inflicted on the rest of us, not even an apology would suffice. Its about time we outed all of the rabble in his church and elsewhere.Robert, NYC.

Good. We need more, not fewer, substantial punishments for the crime of bigotry. Somebody should place Herr Ratzinger under citizens arrest and deport him a gay friendly jurisdiction for trial and imprisonment for the felony of inciting violence against gays and lesbians. People like Ratzinger are just as responsible as the killers and thugs. If Osama bin Laden is a terrorist so is Ratzinger. No need to be gentle with either of them.
