Gaydar founder to be honoured at party
The late Gary Frisch, the man who co-created the Gaydar phenomenon, will be honoured tonight at a birthday party for GaydarRadio.
QSoft, the company that owns the Gaydar brand, decided to go ahead with the event in spite of 38-year-old Mr Frisch's death from multiple injuries on Saturday afternoon.
In a statement on Monday, the company said: "GaydarRadio was one of Gary's proudest achievements to date and that is what he would have wanted."
The radio station, which is five years old, reaches over two million people worldwide.
In 2006 it was voted Best Radio Station at the BT Digital Music Awards.
The circumstances of Mr Frisch's death are under investigation by the Metropolitan police.
Mr Frisch was discovered in the street on Saturday afternoon outside his eighth floor Battersea apartment.
It is thought he either fell or jumped from the balcony.
An autopsy carried out on Wednesday found that the cause of death was multiple injuries.
Further toxicology tests have been ordered and they will take some time, possibly up to six weeks.
Police refused to comment on why those additional tests have been ordered.
Mr Frisch, originally from South Africa, established Gaydar with his business partner and then-boyfriend Henry Badenhorst in 1999.
The dating service now has 3.5 million users worldwide.
A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman told PinkNews.co.uk:
"We are treating the death as unexplained. Wandsworth CID are continuing to investigate the circumstances."
