The first International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival began this week, at the Festival Del Sol in Gran Canaria.

Twenty-five films will showcase the diverse realities of gay and lesbian life around the world. The 5 day event will

feature movies from a variety of genres such as comedy, drama and thrillers.

The organisers want to express the true emotions, sensations and feelings of being gay, and bring people closer through it. Awards will be given on the final night by movie and cultural personalities for "Best Feature Film" and "Best Short Film."

Festival Del Sol wants to keep opening Gran Canaria to different lifestyles, they hope this event will be an international reference and will bring more people to the island.
