Bush and Harper in Brokeback parody
A gay Canadian political leader is starring in a political parody of gay cowboy movie Brokeback Mountain, with US President George Bush and Canadian premier Stephen Harper in the lead roles.
The sketch, featuring Andre Boisclair, leader of Pari Quebecois, a party seeking independence for the Quebec region in Canada, has already prompted outrage in political circles.
It features actors with the heads of Mr Bush and Mr Harper superimposed, fooling around inside a tent.
It is filmed for a comedy show to be broadcast on December 22.
Mr Boisclair told Agence France Presse: "I did it in good faith and I think people will judge it themselves. But when I see the way the controversy has erupted, it's clear I wouldn't do it again."
Canadian Prime Minister, Mr Harper, came to power promising an open vote on revisiting the debate on gay marriage. A vote will be held this month.
This gives him much in common with Mr Bush who has previously spoken out against same sex marriage.
Canada is one of only five countries which allows gay marriage.
