Government funded report claims Kevin Spacey is gay
The Hollywood star Kevin Spacey has been named as a prominent gay man in a report funded by the Department of Education.
The report forms part of a series of lesson plans put together by the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Group (LGBT) to be used in schools as part of the group's 'Its History Month' taking place in February. The Department of Education is believed to be contributing £20,000 to the project.
Mr Spacey, 46, has been included in a list of prominent gays including the writer Oscar Wilde and the camp television presenters Graham Norton and Dale Winton.
LGBT organiser Paul Patrick last night branded the inclusion of Mr Spacey as a "mistake."
"We double check our material carefully but Mr Spacey's name got through. I don't know how. It will be withdrawn," he added.
Mr Spacey is currently the artistic director in residence at the Old Vic Theatre in London.
He has refused to comment on his sexuality since 1997 when Esquire magazine implied he was gay.
Rumours surrounding his sexuality increased in 2004 when he allegedly refused to report being mugged in the early hours of the morning in a London park. Mr Spacey says that he tripped over his dog whilst chasing a man who had conned him into handing over his mobile phone.
