Romney demands gay marriage vote
Outgoing Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is getting desperate in his attempt to leave an anti-gay legacy in the state.
The Governor has previously called for a new debate on gay marriage laws in Massachusetts in the hope of rescinding the current law which makes it the only state to allow same sex couples to marry.
Earlier this month, the state legislature delayed a gay marriage debate until next January, but Mr Romney is desperate to hold a debate as soon as possible.
He called for a debate at a rally last weekend, "The issue now before us is not whether same sex couples should marry. The issue before us today is whether 109 legislators will follow the Constitution."
He said it would be unconstitutional and undemocratic not to allow a vote on the issue.
A debate on the issue will be reconsidered on January 2 2007
Newly elected gay friendly Governor Bob Casey will replace Mr Romney in January, with Mr Romney contemplating a run for President in 2008.
