There is a big gay buzz around Norway at the moment after the country's capital opened the world's first museum exhibition on gay animals today.

The display, entitled Against Nature, at the Oslo Natural History Museum, documents homosexual behaviour amongst over a thousand members of the animal kingdom from beetles to whales.

Geir Soeli, project leader of the exhibition told Reuters that it shows homosexuality is natural, he said: "We may have opinions on a lot of things, but one thing is clear, homosexuality is found throughout the animal kingdom, it is not against nature."

"Homosexuality has been observed for more than 1,500 animal species, and is well documented for 500 of them."

The exhibit has been fiercely opposed by Christian groups for its subject and graphic content, one display shows male giraffes mounting each other.
