Stephen Green, director of Christian Voice, has appeared in magistrates court following his arrest last weekend at Cardiff Mardi Gras.

He denied charges that he had used threatening words and behaviour whilst handing out leaflets entitled “Same-sex love – same-sex sex: What does the Bible say?” at the entrance to the Cardiff festival on Saturday, reports BBC News Online.

Mr Green was supported in court by a group of eight Christian activists.

After his arrest he claimed that he was only exercising his right to free speech.

Green said in a statement “I thank God for the honour of being locked up for sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

He was remanded by the court until 28 September.
