Comment: Double standards?
World Pride was hampered not by boycotts from anti-gay groups but by the conflict between Israel and Lebanon based Hezbollah.
The blame for the conflict lies on both sides whose actions caused the deaths of many hundreds of civilians.
But the reaction from some sections of British society was interesting.
They rightly marched and protested against the response of the Israeli army which has led to the deaths of civilians Muslims and Christians.
But we have yet to see as many marching through London to protest the killing of innocent gay people by Islamic states across the region.
Few came out to protest at such atrocities where lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) teenagers are hanged simply for falling in love with someone of the same sex.
In all probability they didn't know. There was little reportage of the horrors apart from in the gay press.
The Pink News believes all people are worthy of respect and we urge all those who protested against Israel to join the fight for LGBT life across the Middle East and to ensure that these atrocities are widely publicised.
This article first appeared in the September issue of The Pink News which is out now
