Cardiff Mardi Gras to feature scary monster
The organisers of this year's Cardiff Mardi Gras are expecting a record 40,000 people to party on the streets of the Welsh capital on the 2nd September.
Now in its eighth year, it has grown into one of the biggest free gay and lesbian events in the UK.
But changes in the licensing laws mean that revellers will no longer be able to bring their own alcohol to the party, held in Coopers Fields and Sophia Gardens.
There will be several bars where alcohol can be purchased.
So revellers should be on the look out for a scary Cyberman, Dalek or Slitheen.
Blazin' Squad will be providing entertainment, presumably by singing, and Big Brovaz and a former member of turn-of-the-century boy band a1 will also be performing on the main stage.
Organisers are hoping the weather on Saturday, 2nd September will not be a re-run of last year's downpours. The event starts at 1pm and finishes at 9pm.
They are also hopeful that last year's headline act, Charlotte Church, will make an appearance. Church and Doctor Who creator Russell T Davies are the Cardiff Mardi Gras patrons.
In addition to the main stage, there will be dance tents, community stalls, cabaret, a funfair and food stalls.
As reported on PinkNews.co.uk earlier this month, the Mardi Gras celebration will also play host to the Top Gayer Motorshow.
