Elton John and David Furnish opt for private gay wedding ceremony
Sir Elton John's gay wedding to his partner David Furnish will be a private affair after he turned sown an offer worth over £6m to broadcast the occasion.
The popstar and his entertainment producer partner will be one of the first couples in Britain to take advantage of the Civil Partnership Act, which will allow 'gay marriages' in all but name from the 21st December.
Sir Elton revealed that American TV producers offered to donate the sum to his charity, the Elton John Aids Foundation, but he refused saying: "Our relationship isn't up for grabs. Our love is sacred to us. It doesn't come with a price tag."
In an interview with gay lifestyle publication, Attitude, the superstar said he'd prefer his special day to be more like Madonna and Guy Ritchie's wedding, than the marriage of ex-topless model Jordan and singer Peter Andre. He described their event as having produced the "most fabulously, spectacularly awful wedding photographs ever."
It is understood that following a private ceremony with Sharon Osborne, Liz Hurley and Victoria Beckham as bridesmaids, the pair will lunch with their respective parents.
Sir Elton and Mr Furnish have been living together for eleven years.
