Cardiff to host gay motor show
Cardiff's lesbian and gay Mardi Gras will have an extra element of va va voom next month with the launch of the TopGayer Motor show.
It will be hosting the world's first gay car show on Saturday 2 September in Sophia Gardens, Wales.
The event is organised by TS Media and TopGayer.com, Rich Tuckwell, co founder of the organisations, said: "We've been talking about the idea of holding a gay motor show since we launched TopGayer at last years Cardiff Mardi Gras. We sponsored last years Mardi Gras and had the Welsh launch of TopGayer at the event.
"The crowds' response was amazing with everybody asking if we would be having a motor show, we said then that we would hold the world's first Gay Motor Show in Cardiff as a big thank you to everyone at the event in Cardiff for all their support."
The TopGayer Motor Show, which will be a one day open air event, will be opposite the Mardi Gras (one of the largest free events in Europe) and is set to not only be the worlds first gay motor show.
Mr Tuckwell added "We spoke to all the manufacturers to get support for the event and the response was amazing, Mitsubishi and Chevrolet where the first to sign up within days of our email. Chevrolet has even donated a car which we'll be giving away on the day as the star prize in our Text-2-Win contest.
"Land Rover really wanted to be at the show but unfortunately budget made it impossible, however their JV Like Dealership jumped at the chance to represent the brand.
"Toyota World and Cardiff Lexus were next to sign up, closely followed by Saab and Mazda, who'll be bringing a new hard top convertible MX5 in bright pink".
The show is promising to have everything from the major manufacturer's right through to specialist body work and paint effect companies.
During the course of the day TopGayer will be announcing its motoring awards to the crowds, they'll also be announcing the findings of the secret shopper survey they have been conducting on the treatment of LGBT customers by over 150 UK dealers and awarding the gay friendly dealer of the year award, they'll also name the best and worst dealerships in the country.
