Two men have been charged for throwing eggs at members of the public in Manchester's gay village.

According to police, they drove around Sackville street in a Renault Clio shortly after midnight on Thursday shouting homophobic abuse and targeting pedestrians with the eggs.

Peter James Young, 23, of Hardman Street, Chadderton was charged with common assault and a public order offence.

Phillip Shepherd, 25, of Derby Street, Chadderton was charged with a public order offence.

Young appeared before Manchester city magistrates' court today (Friday), while Shepherd will appear before the court on September 1st.
