Gay couple come last in council election
A gay couple standing to be elected to Solihull council in Birmingham have come joint last.
James and Brynn Tudor, who had the first civil partnership in Birmingham, also wanted to become the first Lib Dem councillors in the separate wards of Chelmsley Wood and Kingshurst and Fordbridge.
However, James Tudor came last in Chelmsley Wood with 295 votes, where British National Party candidate, George Morgan, won with 707.
And his partner, Brynn, received 476 votes in Kinsghurst and Fordbridge, behind the Labour candidate, Florence Nash, and Tory winner, Robert Hall who received 814.
Solihull in Birmingham remains under Conservative control with 26 seats, ahead of 15 for the Lib Dems, seven for Labour, one for the BNP and two others.
