I was there and it was very inspiring. It was very colourful as any pride march should be, in spite of the heavy security and police. Around 25 of us went there from Athens to support our neighbors in Bulgaria. A delegation from Sofia Pride had come to the Athens Pride Festival on June 13. Hopefully, we can do the same thing next year and perhaps include Istanbul. The balkan lgbt communities need to start working together, since we have so much in common. With information from the UN and individual countries like Bulgaria, we can momentarily wrap our minds around the evolution behind us, and the bumpy road that lies ahead. Bulgarians have been caught under the thumbs of both Roman Catholicism and the Greek Orthodox Church, and to me, that is a factor not to be taken lightly. How gays there have overcome such homophobia, and are now celebrating a Pride is exceptionally good news. The Internet has given us a tremendous insight into the state of humanity.
