Elton John's Vampire musical to see daylight
Sir Elton John's vampire musical will hit the stage tonight.
Lestat, a story based on Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire, is to open on Broadway this evening written by the gay superstar.
Sir Elton, who also wrote hit show, Billy Elliot, has collaborated with Bernie Taupin for this performance at the Palace Theatre in New York following a stint in San Francisco.
The San Francisco Chronicle described the show as "didactic, disjointed, oddly miscast, confusingly designed and floundering in an almost unrelenting saccharine score by Elton John."
The singer previously said him and Taupin were "huge fans of Anne Rice's books for a long, long time".
Interview with the Vampire was also a film starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Christian Slater in 1994.
